About

This site will be used to communicate timely emergency information with the Washington and Lee University community, should the need arise. More information about W&L’s emergency preparations and procedures is available in our Emergency Management Plan.

The Emergency Management Plan establishes procedures and an organized structure to guide the university in responding to significant foreseeable emergencies on the W&L campus or property owned or operated by W&L. The plan has been developed to coordinate the university’s resources, facilities and personnel, and other external agencies as appropriate, for an effective response to any foreseeable emergency.

Emergency Communications & Contact Information

W&L uses several different systems and methods of communication to alert students, faculty, staff and others of a significant emergency, including: mass emails to wlu.edu accounts, text alerts to mobile phones through the General Alerts system, the W&L Emergency Management and main W&L websites, social media, and the LiveSafe App.

W&L staff, faculty and students can update their information in the General Alerts messaging system to receive email, phone and SMS (text) notifications in the event of an emergency.
